Looking forward to the 250th anniversary of the United States in July 2026, Greenwich Historical Society in partnership with Greenwich Library are pleased to present an engaging lecture by renowned Revolutionary War historian Dr. Joseph J. Ellis on one of the most significant moments in American history.

Hosted in the Library’s Berkley Theater on Saturday, January 25th at 3:30pm, attendees will gain new perspective on the War for Independence from Dr. Ellis based on his recent book, The Cause: The American Revolution and Its Discontents. His latest work scrutinizes the ambiguous history of how our nation began, highlighting the vague principle known as “the Cause.” This broad concept became the underlying ideology that empowered the rebellious individuals and grassroots actions that brought the War for Independence to a head.

Upon conclusion of the lecture, Greenwich Library and the Historical Society invite participants to join us in the theater lobby for book signing with Dr. Ellis. Copies of The Cause will be available for purchase.
