A search for Stamford, Connecticut’s Italian American history began in the archives and continued with dozens of interviews. The emerging story included cultural richness, generosity, and cooperation among the city’s ethnic groups. In this book, Italian American descendants describe Stamford in the 1930s through the 1960s. Their memories of war, romance, work, play, cuisine, and creativity bring history’s echoes to the present.

Speaker Biography
Kim Harke
Author Kim Harke Sushon based her book, Italian American Recollections in Stamford, Connecticut, on archival research and more than 80 interviews. She continues to collect interviews for the Stamford Italian American History Project at the Stamford History Center. Kim earned history degrees from Mount Holyoke College and New York University and is a freelance writer specializing in marketing.
