In our third installment of our Reflections on the Revolution Winter Lecture Series, join the Greenwich Historical Society this March for a special presentation in honor of Women’s History Month. The Historical Society will host an exciting talk from historian and Revolutionary War expert, Dr. Katherine Hermes, who will delve into women’s roles during one of the most tumultuous events in American history.
The talk will explore how women contributed to the American Revolutionary effort politically, economically, intellectually, and even militarily. Using original sources like newspapers, court records, letters, and pension records, Dr. Hermes will show how Indigenous, Anglo-European, and African-descended women all helped to further the Patriot cause.
Participants are encouraged to dive deeper into the history of Greenwich during this tumultuous time in American history, by visiting the current exhibition Greenwich During the Revolutionary War: A Frontier Town on the Front Line, on view at Greenwich Historical Society through June 2025. This engaging exhibition examines the impact of the Revolutionary War on Greenwich, including an exploration of the town’s diverse communities and the daily lives of the people in Greenwich who were immediately effected by the conflict.
