The Isaac L. Mead Building

Built in 1878, 2 Greenwich Avenue is one of the most historic and recognizable buildings in Greenwich and played a major role in the history of the Greenwich Avenue Historic District. The distinctive Tudor Revival architecture and authentic historic fabric have shaped the character of Greenwich Avenue for over 130 years.

Greenwich Historical Society is committed to preserving the places that help tell Greenwich’s story. Plans were submitted in June to demolish the building, replacing it with a mixed-use building featuring apartments. While on the National Register of Historic Places, 2 Greenwich Ave. does not have a Historic Overlay on the property to protect it. By protecting 2 Greenwich Avenue from demolition, we can help preserve an essential pillar of history in downtown Greenwich.
