The Oosterschelde

Greenwich Historical Society celebrated America’s 250th birthday with a free tour of the historic tall ship, The Oosterschelde, and enjoyed fun activities in honor of this momentous birthday. At our Sunday in the Park, over 1200 people were able to tour the vessel.

The Oosterschelde dates back to 1918, working originally as a ship for international trade. After being restored between 1988 and 1992, it became the first Dutch tall ship open to sail worldwide with guests. After their stop in Greenwich, the Oosterschelde served as the lead vessel of the international tall ships that sailed into New York on July 4th for America’s 250th.
