A Walking History Tour of Cos Cob’s Lower Landing
Follow part of the route British General William Tryon marched during his 1779 raid on Cos Cob, visit the site of the community’s historic saltworks, and discover how local whaleboat crews used their knowledge of the waterways to harass British forces and protect their town.
Along the way, hear the remarkable story of Esther Isaacs, whose courageous whaleboat journey into British-occupied New York City reveals the risks ordinary people took in support of the Revolutionary cause.

Led by Justin Rivers, Chief Experience Officer, Untapped New York, in partnership with the Greenwich Historical Society as part of the Rediscover Greenwich initiative.
