Event Details

Date: May 9, 2026
Time: 12:00 pm
–4:00 pm

Join us on Saturday, May 9th, for a day celebrating America’s rich history of needle arts alongside the Nutmeg Stitchers chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America! Stitchers will be spread across our campus, demonstrating their process and techniques alongside completed works. In our historic barn, shop for supplies to start your next needlepoint or cross-stitch project from The Village Ewe and Needlework with Jim, or work on your current WIP alongside other stitchers. We welcome stitchers of all levels and all ages to stop by our classroom and make their own simple “make & take” embroidery project. Finally, be sure to visit our Library & Archives to see examples of historic needle arts from the Historical Society’s collection.

Tickets will also be available for admission to the Bush-Holley House to view how needle arts would have been displayed and used in an eighteenth-century home. In addition, our current exhibition, Fashioning America: 250 Years of Greenwich Style, features examples of embroidered and embellished clothing from across the eras of American history.

Let us know you’re coming by registering below! For those planning to stitch alongside stitchers from the EGA, please register as a stitcher. Admission to our historic barn, grounds, and archives is complimentary as part of Community Stitching Day. If you would like to purchase your ticket in advance for admission to the Bush-Holley House and Fashioning America, you may do so below. Museum admission will also be available for purchase on the day of the event. Reach out to Olivia Luntz, Manager of Education & Outreach, at oluntz@greenwichhistory.org with any questions.

The Nutmeg Chapter of the Metropolitan Region Embroiderers’ Guild of America has a rich history of supporting needlework enthusiasts. Based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, we also draw members from Westchester and Rockland Counties in New York. We offer workshops, group correspondence courses, monthly stitch-ins, weekly virtual stitch-ins, in-person and virtual classes, and occasional field trips. We are an organization dedicated to education; stitchers of all types and skill levels are welcome. We meet virtually at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month.  To learn more, email Chapter President Linda Fedrizzi at lffesq@gmail.com.

The Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA) was established in New York in 1958 for the express purpose of fostering the art of needlework and associated arts. Today, their mission is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage. There are over 8,000 members of the EGA belonging to 220 chapters across the country.
