Explore the Jazz Age with the Florian Shantz Jazz combo! Celebrate 250 years of history through music. In the same way the United States became a melting pot of communities, jazz became a uniquely American music genre that blended varying folk music and instrumental styles from different African American, Creole, and Hispanic, and European communities at the turn of the 20th century. As an expressive genre of music, the popularity with which it rapidly found throughout the United States influenced musicians well into the 21st century in the way it captured American audiences with cultural blending, emotional pull, and vibrancy.
Florian Shantz Jazz Combo will feature on a late night Thursday at Toby’s Tavern and kick off the Summer Concert series with a lively 20s and 30s vibe sure to get people moving and dancing. To learn more about the band, click here for more info: https://vfsjazz.com/.
Gather your friends and bring your lawn chairs, outdoor blankets, and picnic baskets to enjoy an evening on the beautiful lawn of the Historical Society. Come early for complimentary admission to our current exhibition Fashioning America: 250 Years of Greenwich Style. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
Please note that, due to the possibility of thunderstorms, we have decided, out of an abundance of caution, to move the concert indoors to our Historic Barn. Please reach out to oluntz@greenwichhistory.org with any questions.
