The Greenwich Historical Society welcomes its members to a festive evening cocktail reception celebrating the opening of our newest exhibition, Life and Art: The Greenwich Paintings of John Henry Twachtman. Enjoy refreshments while previewing the exhibit which presents a new approach to the artist’s Greenwich oeuvre, treating it as a unified project encompassing both the modifications the artist made to his home and the land surrounding it, and the images he derived from this subject matter.
Featuring vibrant artworks by Twachtman and his contemporaries depicting the artist’s Greenwich home and environs, Life and Art brings Twachtman’s Greenwich world to life, inviting visitors to consider the artist’s relationship to home and work.
