This beautifully illustrated bedtime story is capturing the hearts of children and families everywhere, and Catherine will take us on the incredible journey of how it came to life—thirty-two years after she first wrote the poem.

In her engaging talk, Catherine will share the creative inspiration behind the book, as well as the obstacles she faced on her path to publication. From navigating the complexities of self-publishing to collaborating with a talented illustrator and design team from across the globe, Catherine’s story is one of resilience, creativity, and determination. She will provide valuable insights into the publishing process, including the importance of writing groups and support networks for authors and illustrators.

Catherine’s presentation will offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and triumphs of creating a children’s book. She will discuss the design and formatting process, working with a marketing firm to build her website, and the personal connections she has leveraged to promote her book. Her story is not only inspiring for aspiring writers and illustrators but also a testament to the power of perseverance.

As a retired educator with over 35 years of experience in Greenwich Public Schools, Catherine brings a unique perspective to her writing. Her dedication to children and families is evident in the gentle rhymes and soft pastel illustrations of Taking a Ride on Butterfly Wings. The book invites young readers to journey through the changing seasons of New England, making it a timeless favorite for bedtime reading.
