Allan Houston

The Greenwich Historical Society is pleased to honor local resident Allan Houston at our 2023 History in the Making event in recognition of his philanthropic contributions to Greenwich and beyond, and his commitment to ensuring a future that offers generations to come opportunities to make our world at large a better place.

Houston, his wife Tamara of 22 years, and their seven children have lived in the Greenwich area for over two decades. His community involvement has supported local youth organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and Kids in Crisis and extended to surrounding communities in Stamford and New York and across the country.

Allan Houston is the New York Knicks Vice President of Player Leadership and Development, and all-around powerhouse in the sports industry.

A consummate athlete, Houston is a two-time NBA all-star with a 12-year playing tenure with the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks and was a member of the gold-medal winning U.S. Men’s Basketball team at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Houston’s impact extends beyond the court through the Allan Houston Legacy Foundation, through The FISLL Project, which serves underserved youth, families and communities nationwide through its strategic partnerships, coaching clinics, fatherhood and family programming.

Houston is the founder of FISLL, a social impact brand whose purpose is to engage, equip, inspire, and outfit people to live better, lead better, and perform better. The organization is named for the Five Fundamentals of faith, integrity, sacrifice, leadership and legacy, for which he credits his success as an athlete and in life. FISLL’s platform provides multimedia content, apparel and licensing.

He received the President’s Council on Service and Engagement Award from the Obama Administration and earned his Bachelor of Arts in African-American studies from the University of Tennessee.

Proceeds from this year’s event will help expand and enhance the Greenwich Historical Society’s exhibitions and education programs.
