The Greenwich Historical Society welcomes volunteers from our community who are enthusiastic about Greenwich history. Your time, energy and passion enriches the Greenwich Historical Society a dynamic cultural center and allows us to continue to offer our many programs to the town. From retail to events, concerts, markets, tours, gardening and visitor services, there’s a place for you here!
Opportunities are available for individuals with a special skill set or interest as well as those seeking experience in the arts. Volunteer positions are varied and flexible. Community service hours are offered for student volunteers. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us!

Summer Intern
Enthusiastic and reliable interns are welcome! Join our team and gain a thorough understanding of non-profit strategy and development. Assist with public programs, social media marketing and more with flexible scheduling for college and high school upperclassmen.
Museum Store
Our Museum Store is bustling year-round with interesting gifts and Greenwich-related items. Assist with sales, display design, merchandising, gift-wrapping, and maintaining our stock of unique items. Bring your creative flair and support our growing business.
Reception Desk
Greet visitors, check-in tour participants, assist with answering phone calls and engage tourists and members of the community during their visits to the Greenwich Historical Society.
Events
We host events on our campus year round, welcoming members of the community to enjoy the museum galleries, barn and gardens. Volunteers assist with events such as Tavern Garden Markets, Music on the Great Lawn, members-only programs, fund-raising events and exhibition openings.
Junior Volunteers
Students age 14 and older are welcome to participate in a number of roles at the Historical Society. Love research? Education and Camp? Events? Students assist at family events with children’s craft activities, breakdown and cleanup. Your commitment to community programming can earn Community Service hours, and is a great opportunity to serve while learning about your home town.
Administrative Support
There is always a lot happening behind the scenes to keep our many programs, communications and member services running smoothly. Help distribute promotional materials, assist with mailings, or lend a hand in a variety of ways in our administrative offices.
Green Team
Have a green thumb and a few hours to support our gardens? The Green Team manages the Historical Society’s heirloom vegetable gardens, Tavern Garden, Impressionist Garden, roses, historic lilacs and more. Your skill, experience, and willingness to get your hands dirty are invaluable to us! Hours are flexible from early spring through the fall.
