2024 Summer Marketing Intern

Duration: May – August, Flexible schedule, Mon-Thu, 12-15 hours/week

Start Date: (flexible with respect to school schedules)

Compensation: Unpaid 

Reporting to: Communications Associate / Marketing and Communications Director

Internship Description: Greenwich Historical Society is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Marketing & Communications Intern. This person will gain a thorough understanding of non-profit marketing and communications strategy and content development, including email newsletters, social media promotions, video content, website development, publicity and more. In particular, we are seeking a candidate with an enthusiasm for telling compelling stories across various social media channels and in both written and visual mediums. The Marketing & Communications Intern is welcome and occasionally required, to attend and photograph public programs, education programs, and other Historical Society events for social media coverage.

Projects and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Archives, Education, Exhibitions and Public Programs departments to provide marketing support for programs and events
  • Assist in composing and scheduling social media posts, providing new ideas for content, and experimenting with new platforms and approaches
  • Assist Marketing and Communications staff with updating the website
  • Assist with gathering content for e-blasts, newsletters, and other email promotions
  • Assist with tracking marketing and communications projects, and evaluating analytics for social media, email, and website performance
  • Provide general administrative support to Marketing Department as needed

Qualifications

  • Deep familiarity and facility with social media platforms
  • Strong visual sensibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Background in email and social media-based marketing
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Experience editing online content in WordPress preferred
  • Currently pursuing a degree or recent college graduate 
  • Prior experience working in a non-profit preferred, but not required
