Greenwich Historical Society is pleased to honor Scott Mitchell and the Mitchell Family, owners of Richards of Greenwich, at our History in the Making award dinner in recognition of the Mitchell’s long-standing tradition of giving back to their community and local nonprofit causes and fostering a culture of philanthropy across multiple generations. Richards is known as a vibrant hub of the Greenwich business community, and the Mitchell family supports many worthy causes that include promotion of the arts, the preservation of Long Island Sound, critical health initiatives and breaking the cycle of poverty.
In recognizing the Mitchells’ committment and contribution, the Historical Society acknowledges their place in a long history of Greenwich philanthropists who have made an important positive impact on the world. The Mitchells are the ninth recipients of the Historical Society’s History in the Making Award, which was established in 2003 to recognize individuals from our community who are the history makers of our own time. Former awardees include Allan Houston, Barbara and Ray Dalio, Indra Nooyi, Derek Boothby, Thomas Foley, Curt Welling, Marie and Charlene Von Saher and Lewis Lehrman.
