Sports play an essential role in American life, with many of our closest bonds and memories rooted in a shared appreciation of athletes and teams. The team rivalries, star athletes, trophies and accolades that characterize modern American sports reflect the many facets of American life. Sporting history is a social history, and the development of sports and athletic culture in Greenwich and its surrounding communities reflects the broader history of the region.

Sports! More than Just a Game features exclusive memorabilia, equipment and personal effects from celebrated sports figures and everyday athletes who broke barriers, tested their limits and found common ground through athletics. Reflecting the vibrant history of local sporting clubs and leagues and the notable legacy of prominent athletes making their homes in Greenwich, the exhibition and its related adult and family programs tell a rich story of sporting culture viewed through an historical lens.

The Greenwich Historical Society is excited to present our SPORTS! More Than Just a Game trailer. Keep an eye out for more to come!
